MEET OUR PASTOR

Marcus T. Cathey is a native of Jackson, Mississippi.  As the pastor/founder of West Point Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, he has served unwavering for nearly 20 years in ministry.  What began as a small group bible study of 12 quickly grew to an unprecedented journey of growth and faith in South Mississippi. Today, West Point Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Cathey, is a thriving ministry that seeks to impact lives in a culturally relevant manner in order to make more and better disciples.

Pastor Cathey feels strongly about promoting reconciliation, equipping servant leaders, and educating the next generation. His community involvement includes past President of the Hattiesburg Public School District’s Board of Trustees and former Second Vice President of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi. He has also served as a board member of the United Way of Southeast Mississippi, the Hattiesburg American Editorial Board, the Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Board of Trustees for the Mississippi Baptist Seminary and Bible College. He was a member of the Area Development Partnership’s Leaders for a New Century, which is now known as Leadership Pinebelt, Class of 2000.

Having attended the University of Southern Mississippi, William Carey University and the New Orleans Baptist Seminary, Pastor Cathey continues to further his growth and development.  He and his wife Marneshia are the proud parents of three children; Joshua, Madison, and Mason, one daughter in-love, Jessica, and a granddaughter, Journey.
